The action of the woman showed her to be

b) Greedy

  • In the poem "A legend of the Northland" written by Phoebe Cary, the woman is greedy. She had a large cakes store but she used to refuse to give even one small wafer from the cake store without money to a weary and weak and hungry traveller. She just wanted to earn as much money as possible from her cake store. She did not want to give just a small piece of cake because she thought that her cake was too expensive to give to someone without money and to someone who was starving and was in an urge of fainting. She did not care about anyone, she just cared for herself.

  • The poem was about Saint Peter punishing a greedy woman for denying him a small piece of cake that she had baked. In the poem, Saint Peter arrives at the cottage of the woman hungry and exhausted after travelling around the world.
