We Know that Rate of Change of Nuclei is Given by : dN/dt = -λN

Where λ is the Radioactive Decay Constant which is given by : 0.693/T(half)

Given that λ = 2.4 × 10⁻⁸ s⁻¹

⇒ 2.4 × 10⁻⁸ = 0.693/T(half)

⇒ T(half) = 0.693/(2.4 × 10⁻⁸)

⇒ T(half) = 2.88 × 10⁷ seconds

We know that One Hour contains 60 × 60 = 3600 seconds

We need to find 2.88 × 10⁷ seconds equals to how many hours?

⇒ 2.88 × 10⁷ seconds in hours = (2.88 × 10⁷ seconds × one hour )/3600 seconds

⇒  2.88 × 10⁷ seconds in hours = 0.08 × 10⁵ = 8000 hours

So, the Half life of the Given Sample is 8000 hours.
