The actual distance between station A and station B is 10 km. While expressing it on a map, the distance between station A and station B had to be reduced to 2 cm. If the formula to find out the scale of a map is distance on the map to the actual distance on the ground, then, what is the scale of the map mentioned above?

Answer:

Real distance between A and B = 10km

Distance of A and B in map = 2cm

Therefore 1 cm in map represents = 10/2= 5km

Therefore the scale of the map is 1cm= 5km
