The addition of an impurity atoms to a pure semiconductor is called doping.
Normally Trivalent and Pentavalent elements are used to dope Silicon and Germanium. When an intrinsic semiconductor is doped with Trivalentimpurity it becomes a P-Typesemiconductor.
