Given that :-


Shorter side = 24 cm


Distance between shorter side = altitude = 10 cm



Longer side = 40

Distance between longer side = x ( let )


Now ,

A / q


Area = base * height


= 24 * 10


And ,


Area = base * height


= 40 * x .


Both areas are same ,


So ,


40 * x = 10 * 24


=> 4 * = 24


=> x = 6


Distance between longer sides


= 6 cm .
