GivEn :

  • Longer Side of the parallelogram = 15 cm

  • Smaller side of the parallelogram = 8 cm

  • Distance between longer the longer sides = 4 cm

To find :

  • Distance between the smaller sides = ?

SoluTion :

According to the area of parallelogram,

  • Case - 1 [Longer side]

:\implies\sf \:  \:  \: Area = Base  \times Height  \\  \\  \\  \\

:\implies\sf \:  \:  \: Area = 15  \times 4 \\  \\  \\  \\

:\implies\sf \:  \:  \: { \underline{ \boxed{ \sf{ \purple{Area = 60  \: {cm}^{2}}}}}} \:  \bigstar  \\  \\

  • Case - 2 [Smaller side]

:\implies\sf \:  \:  \: Area = Base  \times Height  \\  \\  \\  \\

:\implies\sf \:  \:  \: 60 = 8  \times Height  \\  \\  \\  \\

:\implies\sf \:  \:  \:  Height  =  \dfrac{60}{8}  \\  \\  \\  \\

:\implies\sf \:  \:  \: { \underline{ \boxed{ \sf { \orange{Height  =  7.5 \: cm}}}}} \:  \bigstar  \\  \\

Hence, distance between shorter side's, i.e. , height is 7.5 cm.

Additional information :

Area of a parallelogram is the region covered by the it in a 2D space .

It is given by,

\dag \large \: { \boxed{ \rm{A = B \times H}}}

where,

  • B = Base

  • H = Height

Answer:

Hi !

Area of the parallelogram = base x height

= 10 x 4

= 40 m^2

--------------------------------------------------------------

Shorter side = 8 m

Area of parallelogram = 8 x h

40 = 8h

h = 5 m

Distance between the shorter sides = 5 meter
