longer side=15cm
shorter side=8cm
height for shorter side=4cm

area of parellalogram
=base × height
=15cm×4cm
60 {cm}^{2}
area=base×height
60=8×height
height =  \frac{60}{8}
= 7.5cm

The distance between the shorter sides is 7.5 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that the adjacent sides of a parallelogram are 15cm and 8cm. The distance between the longer sides is 4cm.

Let the distance between the shorter sides is x cm.

Area of a parallelogram is

Area=base\times height

If base of the parallelogram is 15 cm then height is 4 cm.

A_1=15\times 4=60

If base of the parallelogram is 8 cm then height is x cm.

A_2=8\times x=8x

Equate the areas of parallelogram.

8x=60

Divide both sides by 8.

x=\frac{60}{8}

x=7.5

Therefore, the distance between the shorter sides is 7.5 cm.
