The adjacent sides of a parallelogram are 25m and 8m .If the perpendicular distance between the longer sides is 16m,find the distance between the shorter sides.

wrutvee2006: area of the llgm
= base x height
= 10 x 4
= 40

now the shorter side = 8m

area of llgm = 8 x h
40 = 8h
h = 5m

the distance between shorter side is 5m

Area of parallelogram= base*corresponding height = 25*16= 400 m²
Also,
Area if parallelogram= 8 * height
400 = 8*height
height= 50 m

Dear Student,

● Answer -

y = 50 m

● Explanation -

Suppose,

length of longer side = l = 25 cm

length of shorter side = b = 8 cm

distance between longer sides = x = 16 cm

distance between shorter sides = y = ?

Area of parallelogram is given by -

l × x = b × y

25 × 16 = 8 × y

y = 25 × 16 / 8

y = 50 m

Hence, the distance between the shorter sides is 50 m.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
