Area of a parallelogram = base × height
ATQ;
Let the distance between the shorter sides be d. Then;
12×6=4×d
d=72/4
d=18
Hence; the distance between the shorter sides is 18cm...

Dear Student,

● Answer -

y = 18 cm

● Explanation -

Suppose,

length of longer side = l = 12 cm

length of shorter side = b = 4 cm

distance between longer sides = x = 6 cm

distance between shorter sides = y = ?

Area of parallelogram is given by -

l × x = b × y

12 × 6 = 4 × y

72 = 4y

y = 72 / 4

y = 18 cm

Hence, distance between shorter sides is 18 cm.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
