Question:

The adjacent sides of a parallelogram are in the ratio 5:6. If the perimeter is 44 cm , then find the measure of each side of the parallelogram

Given:

perimeter of parallelogram = 44 cm

Let:

The adjacent sides be 5 x and 6x

We know:

perimeter of parallelogram = 2(side1 +side2)

So:

→44= 2(5x+6x)

→5x+6x=44/2

→11x=22

→x=22/11

→x=2

At last we get x→2

Finally:

  • side 1(AB)=5x
  • side 1(AB)=5×2
  • side 1(AB)=10 cm✓

  • side 2 (BC) = 6x
  • side 2(BC)=6×2
  • side 2(BC)=12cm

  • side 3(CD)=side 1 (opposite sides of parallelogram are equal)
  • .°. side 3(CD)=10cm

  • side 4(AD)=side 2(opposite sides of parallelogram are equal)
  • .°. side 4(AD)=12cm
