The adjoining figure represent a rectangular lawn with a circular flower beb in the middle.Find
i) the area of whole land
ii) the area of flower bed
iii)the area of lawn excluding the area of flower bed
iv) the circumference of flower bed

Answer :

(i) <b>It is given in the question that</b>

Length of land = 10

Breadth of land = 5

We know that,

<b>Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth</b>

∴ Area of whole land = 10 × 5

= 50 m²

(ii) <b>Also, it is given in the question that:</b>

Radius of flower bed = 2 m

We know that,

Area of flower bed = πr²

= 3.14 × 2 × 2

= 12.56 m²

(iii) <b>Area of lawn excluding the flower bed = Area of whole land – Area of flower bed</b>

= 50 – 12.56

= 37.44 m²

(iv) We know that,

Circumference of circle = 2πr

∴ Circumference of flower bed = 2 × 3.14 × 2

= 4 × 3.14

= 12.56 m²
