The adjoining figure represents a rectangular lawn with a circular flower bed in the
middle. Find
() the area of the whole land w the area of the flower bed
the area of the lawn excluding the area of the flower bed
(iv) the circumference of the flower bed .​

Given that,

Length of rectangular lawn =10 m

Width of rectangular lawn =5 m

and 

radius of flower bed =2 m

Part (1):

The area of whole land = Area of rectangular lawn

=length×width

=10×5=50 m2

The area of whole land =50 m2

Part (2):

Area of flower bed = Area of circle 

=πr2

=3.14×22×=12.56 m2

Area of flower bed =12.56 m2

Part (3):

The area of lawn excluding the area of the flower bed

= rectangular lawn − Area of circle 

=50−12.56

=37.44 m2

The area of lawn excluding the area of flower bed =37.44 m2

Part (4):

Circumference of the flower bed =circumference of circle =2πr

=2×3.14×2=12.56 m

Circumference of the flower bed =12.56 m
