Find the area of the square:

Area of a square = Length x Length

Area = 63 x 63 = 3969 cm²

Find the radius:

Radius = Diameter ÷ 2

Radius = 63 ÷ 2 = 31.5 cm

Find the area of the two semicircles:

Area of 2 semicircles = Area of 1 circle

Area of a circle = πr²

Area of a circle = π(31.5)² = 3118.5 cm²

Find the area of the square not covered by the 2 semicircles:

*See attachment

Area = 3969 - 3118.5 = 850.5 cm²

Find the total area not shaded:

*See attachment

Area not shaded = 850.5 x 2 = 1701 cm²

Find the area of the shaded part:

Area = 3969 - 1701 = 2268 cm²

Answer: 2268 cm²

HannanM: but their is empty space between the semi circle ryt
TooFree: That is why I did it twice. First time for the first set of empty space (See attachment 1) And then i multiply it by 2 (because there is another similar empty space of the other side as well)
TooFree: Note that there is 2 attachments here. One shows the first set of empty space, the the other attachment, the other set.
HannanM: thank you for you explanation :)
