Let the sum of ages of 3 sons be x years

Age of man = 4x years

After 8 years age of the man = (4x + 8) years

Sum of ages of 3 sons = (x +8+8+8) years

Given, (4x + 8) = 2(x + 24)

⇒ (4x + 8) = 2x + 48

⇒ x = 20

Hence 4x = 4(20) = 80

Thus the age of the man(father) is 80 years.

Answer:

45 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the sum of ages of two sons be x years

Age of father = 3x years

After 5 years the age of the father = (3x + 5) years

Sum of ages of two sons = (x + 10) years

Given, (3x + 5) = 2(x + 10)

⇒ (3x + 5) = 2x + 20

⇒ x = 15

Therefore 3x = 3(15) = 45

Thus the age of the father is 45 years.
