The present ages of Amit and Sumit are 30 years and 45 years respectively.

Given:

The ratio of Amit's and Sumit's present ages = 2:3

After 15 years, the ratio of their ages =  3:4

To Find:

Present ages of Amit and Sumit.

Solution:

Let Amit's present age be 2x and Sumit's present age be 3x.

After 15 years,

Amit's age = (2x + 15) years

Sumit's age = (3x + 15) years

According to the given question,

(2x + 15) / (3x + 15) = 3 / 4

⇒ 8x + 60 = 9x + 45

⇒ x = 60 - 45 =15.

Hence,

Amit's present age = 2x = 2(15) = 30

Sumit's present age = 3x = 3(15) = 45.

The present ages of Amit and Sumit are 30 years and 45 years respectively.
