Let the present age of Appu be x.
Then, his mother age is 9x.

3( 9 + x ) = 9x + 9
27 + 3x = 9x + 9
27 - 9 = 9x - 3x
18 = 6x
18/6 = x
3 = x
Appu 's age = 3 yrs
His mother age = 3 * 9 yrs
= 27 yrs
