We have to find the age of father, Arjun.

Let the age of father is x yrs

The age of children are y and z

According to first statement the age of Arjun is twice the sum of age of his two children.

⇒ x=2(y+z)   →  (1)

After 20 years, the ages of father and his two children will be

Father age is (x+20) yrs

Children age are (y+20) and (x+20) yrs

Now, given that after 20 years Arjun age will be equal to the sum of age of his children.

⇒ x+20=(y+20)+(z+20)

⇒ x=(y+z)+20  →   (2)

From eq (1),  x=2(y+z)

(2) becomes  2(y+z) = (y+z)+20 ⇒ (y+z)=20

Hence, father age is 2(y+z)=2(20)=40 yrs
