Given :

Ratio of the ages of Aslam and Ahmed = 3 : 5

Ratio of the ages of Aslam and Ahmed after 9 years = 3 : 4

To find :

The current age of Ahmed

Solution :

Let the present age of Aslam be 3x

And the present age of Ahmed be 5x

After 9 years,

Age of Aslam = (3x + 9) years

Age of Ahmed = (5x + 9) years

According to question,

 =  >  \dfrac{3x + 9}{5x + 9}  =  \dfrac{3}{4}

Cross multiplying the terms.

 =  > 3(5x + 9) = 4(3x + 9)

 =  > 15x + 27 = 12x + 36

 =  > 15x - 12x = 36 - 27

 =  > 3x = 9

 =  > x =  \dfrac{9}{3}

 =  > x = 3

Hence, the value of x is 3

Therefore,

The age of Aslam => 3x = 3 × 3 = 9 years

And the age of Ahmed => 5x = 5 × 3 = 15 years
