Answer:

The age of father is 2 years more than five times the age of his son. If the sum of their ages is 38 years, find the age of each of them .

Step-by-step explanation:

let the age of son =x

                    father = y

The age of father is=   2 years more than five times the age of his son

                   y     =  2 + 5 x    -----------------------> 1

         x + y         = 38            ----------------------->   2

         x  + 2 + 5x   = 38   (sub 1 in 2)

              6x        = 38 - 2

               6 x        = 36

                  x       = 6

       y    =  38 - 6

       y   = 32

so father age is 32 & the son age is 6

Answer:

age of son= x

Age of father = 5x + 2

equation = 6x + 2 = 38

6x = 38 - 2

6x = 36

x = 36/6 = 6

present age of son = 6

present age of father = 6 x 5 + 2 = 32
