Let the -

  • age of father be x years
  • age of son be y years.

The age of father is 20 years more than twice the age of son.

\sf{According \:to\:question}

=> x = 2y + 20 ......(1)

Also, given that sum of ages of father and son is 65 years.

=> x + y = 65

=> 2y + 20 + y = 65 [From (1)]

=> 3y = 65 - 20

=> 3y = 45

=> y = 15

\sf{Substitute \:value\: of \:y\: in\: (1)}

=> x = 2(15) + 20

=> x = 30 + 20

=> x = 50

•°• Age of father is 50 years and age of son is 15 years.

Verification :

From above calculations age of father = 50 years and age of son = 15 years

And sum of their ages is 65 years.

→ (50 + 15) years = 65 years

→ 65 years = 65 years
