Let the age of the father and his son be " a and b " respectively

By the conditions given in the question we get equations

a = b + 30

a - b = 30. .... 1

a + 5 = 3 ( b + 5 )

a - 3b = 10. .... 2

Subtracting equation 2 from equation 1 we get

2b = 20

b = 10

putting ( b = 10 ) in equation 1

a - 10 = 30

a = 40

so the present ahes of the father and his son are 40 and 10 years respectively
