Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

The age of father is 4 times the age of his son. 5 years hence, the age of father will be three times the age of his son.

To find :-

Find their present ages?

Solution:-

Let the present age of son be X years

Then,

The present age of Father = 4 times the age of his son

=> 4×X

=> 4X years

After 5 years ,the age of his son = (X+5) years

After 5 years, the age of father = (4X+5) years

Given that

5 years hence, the age of father will be three times the age of his son.

=> (4X+5) = 3(X+5)

=> 4X+5 = 3X+15

=> 4X-3X = 15-5

=> X = 10 years

Son's age = 10 years

Father's age = 4×10 = 40 years

Answer:-

The present age of father = 40 years

The present age of son = 10 years

Check:-

Father's present age = 40 years

Son's present age = 10 years

=> 4×10 years

=>Father's age = 4 times son's age

After 5 years their ages will be

40+5 = 45 years and 10+5 = 15 years

=> 45 years

=> 3×15 years

=>Father's age = 3 times the son's age
