THE age of father is40 years more thene that of his son. After 5 years, father,s age will be thrice his son,s age. find there present ages.

40+5 =45
means that father would be 45 years more than his son after 5 years
and also thrice by son
so 45÷3 =15
so it means after 5 years sons age would b 15 years
so before 5 years so ns age=15-5=10
father's age=40 more than son=10+40=50

let the age of Son be x

therefore father's age = x+40

After 5 years fathers age =x+40+5

and son's age = x+5

according to the question

3(x+5)=x+40+5

3x+15=x+45

3x-x=45-15

2x=30

x=30/2

x=15

therefore age of son=15 years

and father's age =x+40

15+40

55 years
