age of Ryan = 7x+4

The sum of there ages = 56

According to the problem:

(5x+4) + (7x+4) = 56

(5x+7x)+(4+4) = 56

12x + 8 = 56

(transfer 8 to the right side , so that it became -8 )

12x. = 56 -8

12x = 48

x. = 48/12

( here it will become ÷ because when multiplicatiin transfer to another side it becomes ÷)

(so , here we have to divide 48 with 12)

x = 4

Theréfore present age of lakshmi is = 5x+4

5×4 + 4= 20+4= 24

present age of lakshmi = 24

( same for Ryan also)

therefore present age of Ryan is = 7x+4

7×4+4

7×4 +4= 28+4 = 32

present age of Ryan is = 32
