Let the present age of Mintu be 5x years & let the present age of Chintu be 7x years respectively.

So,

$\mapsto\tt{(Mintu's\:age) + (Chintu's\:age) = 56}$

$\mapsto\tt{5x+4 + 7x+4 = 56}$

$\mapsto\tt{12x + 8 = 56}$

$\mapsto\tt{12x = 56-8}$

$\mapsto\tt{12x = 48}$
