The age of monu is one-third the age of his mother. If the sum of thier age is 48 years find the age of both.

Therefore

⇒ x + x/3 = 48

Taking LCM we get,

⇒ ( 3x + x )/3 = 48

⇒ 4x/3 = 48

⇒ 4x = 48 × 3

⇒ 4x = 144

⇒ x = 144/4

⇒ x = 36

Therefore the age of Monu's mother is 36 years.

Age of Monu = x/3

⇒ Age of Monu = ( 36/3 )

⇒ Age of Monu = 12 years

Therefore age of Monu is 12 years
