add the 2 years in both sides
then it wull be 2x+2:3x+2

after 2 years the ratio will be 3:4
now let this ratio be 3x:4x

according to the question
2x+2:3x+2=3x:4x

so 2x+2=3x

2=3x-2x

2=x
so age of father = 2×4 =8 years
