Let the age of suman and neelati in the

ratio = 3:4.

=> Let the age of suman = x

=> Let the age of neelati = y

=> x/y = 3/4

=> 4x = 3y

=> 4x - 3y = 0 ....(1)

4 years ago, their ages were in the ratio

=> 5:7

Let the present age of suman = ( x - 4 )

Let the present age of neelati = ( y - 4 )

=> ( x - 4 ) / ( y - 4 ) = 5/7

=> 7 ( x - 4 ) = 5 ( y - 4 )

=> 7x - 28 = 5y - 20

=> 7x - 5y = 8 ...... (2)

From equation (1) and (2) we get,

=> 4x - 3y = 0 ..... (1)

=> 7x - 5y = 8 ....... (2)

multiply equation (1) by 5

multiply equation (2) by 3

we get,

=> 20x - 15y = 0

=> 21x - 15y = 24

we get,

=> x = 24

put the value of x = 24 in equation (1)

we get,

=> 4(24) - 3y = 0

=> 96 = 3y

=> y = 32

Therefore,

present age of suman = x = 24 years.

present age of neelati = y = 32 years.
