Given :-

The age of the father is 3 years more than three times the age of the son. Three years hence, the father's age will exceed twice the age of the son by 13 years.

To Find :-

Their ages after 4 years

Solution :-

Let the age of son be x

Age of father = 3x + 3

After 3 years

Age of son = (x + 3)

Age of father = (3x + 3 + 3) = (3x + 6) years

3x + 6 = 2(x + 3) + 13

3x + 6 = 2x + 6 + 13

3x + 6 = 2x + 19

3x - 2x = 19 - 6

x = 13

Age of son after 4 years = x + 4 = 13 + 4 = 17 years

Age of father after 4 years = 3x + 3 + 4 = 3 + 7 = 3(13) + 7 = 46 years
