let father age be x and son's age be y
A/Q
x=y2-(eqn 1)
also
x+5y=84
y2+5y-84=0(from eqn 1)
y2+12y-7y-84=o
y(y+12)-7(y+12)=o
(y-7)(y+12)
either
y-7=o
y=7. or. y+12=o
y=-12(rejected since it is a negative value)
now from eqn 1
x =y2
=(7)2
=49
therefore father's age =x=49 years old
son's age=y=7 years old
