Solution

Given,

  • the age of the father is twice the square of his son 8 years .
  • hence the age of father will be for your more than three time age of his son .

Now,

  • we have to find here are their present age

So,

  • let the present age of be "X" yrs .
  • So, the present age of father 2x^2 yrs .

Eight years hence ,

  • sons age : (X+8) yrs
  • fathers age : (2x^2 + 8) yrs

it is given that a eight yrs hence the age of father will be for your more than three times the age of son

So,

  • it will form a equation : 2x^2 +8 = 3(X+8) +4

now solving it we get ;

 = > {2x}^{2} + 8 = 3(x + 8) + 4

 = > {2x}^{2} + 8 = 3x + 24 + 4

 = > {2x}^{2} - 3x - 20 = 0

 = > {2x}^{2} - 8x + 5x - 20 = 0

 = > 2x(x - 4) + 5(x - 4) = 0

 = > (x - 4)(2x + 5) = 0

so, X = 4 , -5/2

  • but the age cannot be negative so , X = 4

The present age of the son = 4 yrs

The present age of father = 2(X)^2 = 2(4)^2 = 32 yrs

The present age of son is 4 years and present age of father is 32 years .
