Hi friend,
Let the age of the father = x years
Let the sum of ages of his sons = y years
According to question,
x = 2y-------(1)
Again,
x +20 = y + 40(adding 20 to ages of both the sons)
From (1),
2y+20=y+40
 y = 20
-x = 40
Hence,age of father = 40 years.
