The age of the girl is 16 years. His brother's age is 3/4th of her age then what is the age of the boy?

Let the girl's age be 'x' and
      Her brother's age be 'y'.
  Age of the girl is 16 years.
                    ∴ x = 16 
Her brother's age is 3÷4th her sister's age.
              ∴ y = 3
                       --    x
                       4 
                  y = 3 
                       --   × 16
                       4
                  y= 3 × 4 = 12 .
∴ The age of the boy is 12 years.
