Solution:-

The ratio of ages of two persons =5:7

Let they be 5X and 7X

18 years ago their ages =(5X-18) and (7X-18) years

Ratio of their ages 18 years ago=8:13

=>(5X-18):(7X-18)=8:13

=>(5X-18)/(7X-18)=8/13

applying cross multiplication then

=>13(5X-18)=8(7X-18)

=>65X-234=56X-144

=>65X-56X=-144+234

=>9X=90

=>X=90/9

=>X=10

5X=5×9=45

7X=7×9=63
