Let the present age of A be 3x
and the present age of B be 4x

After five years ,

A's age :- ( 3x + 5 )
B's age :- ( 4x + 5 )


• After five years sum of their ages will be 31 years

( 3x + 5 ) + ( 4x + 5 ) = 31

7x + 10 = 31

7x = 31 - 10

7x = 21

x = 3


The present age of A is 3x

= 3 × 3 = 9 years


Tha present age of B is 4x

= 4 × 3 = 12 years.
