Let the common ratio be x

Present age of A = 5x ---(1)

Present age of B = 3x ---(2)

AFTER 6 YEARS,
7x , 5x

Therefore,

Present age of A = (7x-6) years ---(3)

Present age of B = (5x-6) years ---(4)

_______________________________

From ---(1), ---(3), , we get :-

5x = 7x - 6

=> 5x- 7x = -6

=> -2x = -6

=> x = 3

______________________________

Present age of A = 5x = 5× 3 = 15 years

Present age of B = 3x = 3× 3 = 9 years

Now According to question,

Sum of present ages of A and B = (9+ 15) years

=24 years
