The ratio of a and b present age is 5:7

so let their ages be 5x and 7x

after 4 years their age will be in the ratio 3:4

therefore, (5x + 4 ) / (7x + 4)

= 3/4

or, 4( 5x + 4) = 3( 7x + 4)

20x + 4 = 21x + 12

= 16 - 12 = 21x - 20x

= 4 = x

= x = 4

thus, age of A = 5x = 5 × 4 = 20 and age of B = 7x = 7 × 4 = 28

sum of their ages is 20 + 28 = 48

hope it will helpful for you

x will be 4

so A age is 5 × 4 = 20

B age 7 × 4 = 28
