Let the age of A be 7x and B be 3x.

Age of A:B = 7x:3x = 7x/3x

12 years later:-

Age of A = 7x + 12

Age of B = 3x + 12

Age of A:B = 7x+12/3x+12 = 5/3

By cross multiplication

3(7x+12) = 5(3x+12)

21x+36 = 15x+60

Transposing

21x - 15x = 60 - 36

6x = 24

x = 24/6

x = 4

A = 7x = 7×4

= 28

B = 3x = 3×4

= 12
