Let age of A and B be 7x and 9x.

9years ago :

A : 7x - 9

B : 9x - 9

but A : B = 2 : 3

or, (7x - 9) /( 9x - 9) = 2 / 3

or, 21x - 27 = 18x - 18

or, 3x = 9

or, x = 3

So, present age of A is 7×3=21 & B is 9×3=27

According to the question, 9 years ago,

(7x - 9) : (9x - 9) = 2 : 3

3(7x - 9) : 2(9x - 9)

21x - 27 = 18x - 18

21x - 18x = - 18 + 27

3x = 9

x = 9/3

x = 3

Present age of A = 7x = 7(3)=21
Present age of B = 9x = 9(3) = 27
