The ages of Ajay and Akhil are in the ratio 3 : 4 . Five years ago ratio of their ages
was 2 : 3 . Find their present ages.

EXPLANATION.

→ Let the age of Ajay be = 3x

→ Let the age of Akhil be = 4x

→ The ages of ajay and akhil are in ratio = 3:4

Five years,ago their age was = 2:3.

→ Let present age of ajay = ( 3x - 5 )

→ Let present age of akhil = ( 4x - 5 )

→ ( 3x - 5 ) / ( 4x - 5 ) = 2/3

→ 3 ( 3x - 5 ) = 2 ( 4x - 5 )

→ 9x - 15 = 8x - 10

→ x = 5

Therefore,

→ present age of ajay = 3x = 3(5) = 15 years.

→ present age of akhil = 4x = 4(5) = 20 years.

Let, the ages of Ajay and Akhil be 3x and 4x

Five years ago, Ajay's age be 3x-5

Five years ago, Akhil's age be 4x-5

ATP

 \frac{3x - 5}{4x - 5}  =  \frac{2}{3}

=) 3(3x-5) = 2(4x-5)

=) 9x-15 = 8x-10

=) 9x-8x = 15-10

=) x = 5

Ans:- Present age of Ajay = (3×5) = 15yrs

Present age of Akhil = (4×5) = 20yrs
