Given that the present ages of Arun and Akash are in the ratio 7:6

∴Let the ages of Arun and Akash be 7x and 5x.

Also, given that after 6 years, their ages are in the ratio 5:4

Age of Arun after 6 years = 7x + 6

Age of Akash after 6 years = 5x + 6

ie , 7x + 6    =  5  

      5x + 6         4

ie, 4 (7x +6)  = 5(5x + 6)

ie, 28x + 24 = 25x + 30

ie, 28x - 25x  = 30 - 24

ie, 3x = 6

ie, x = 2

∴The present ages of Arun = 7x = 7 × 2 = 14 years

  The present age of Akash = 5x = 5 × 2 = 10 years
