Let ages be a-3d, a-d, a+d and a+3d such that their common diff. is 2d

We are given, a+3d =  17         ..................................(1)
        and, a+3d-(a-3d) = 9
                a+3d-a+3d = 9
                    6d = 9
      so, d= 9/6 = 3/2

 By putting Value of d in Eqn (1)
    a + 3(3/2) = 17
 so, a = 17 - 9/2
       a = 25/2

so, Ages are a-3d = 25/2 - 3(3/2) = 8 yrs.
                     a-d = 25/2 - 3/2 = 11 yrs
                     a+d = 25/2 + 3/2 = 14 yrs
         and, a+3d = 25/2 + 9/2 =  17 yrs.

So, Ages of all brothers are 8 yrs, 11 yrs, 14 yrs and 17 yrs.
