The ages of hari & harry are in the ratio 5:7. 4 years from now the ratio of their ages will be 3.4. Find their present ages?

let their ages be 5x and 7x

after 4 years

ages become

5x+4 and 7x+4

ATQ,

5x +4/7x+4= 3/4

4(5x+4) = 3(7x+4)

20x+16=21x+12

16-12=21x- 20x

x=4

NOW,

5x+4= 5×4+4= 24yrs

& 7x+4= 7×4+4= 32yrs

thus there ages are 24 yrs and32 yrs respectively

CHECK :

the ratio of 24 & 32 when divided by 8

is 3:4 which is there present ratio of age
