Let ages of Nirav and his mother=1x:2x

ages of Nirav and his mother 10 years ago = 1x-10:2x-10

= 1:3———(1)

solving equation 1

 \frac{1x - 10}{2x - 10}  =  \frac{1}{3}

⟹3x - 30 = 2x - 10

⟹3x - 2x = 30 - 10

⟹ x = 20

Age of Nirav = 1x = 20 years

Age of her mother = 2x = 2×20 = 40 years
