the ages of rahul & haroon are in the ratio 5
:7. four years later the sum of their ages will be 56 years.what are their present age?

let the present age of rahul be 5x
and the present age haroon be 7x
fter 4 years, their ages will be 5x+4 and 7x+4
also (5x+4)+(7x+4)=56
therefore 12x+8=56
therefore 12x=56-8
12x=48
x=48/12
thereforex=4
since x=4,
                5x=5*4=20
          and 7x=7*4=28

Therefore, present age of rahul is 5x and present age of haroon is 7x.
After 4 years'
age of rahul will become=(5x+4);
age of haroon will become=(7x+4);
According to the question;
(5x+4)+(7x+4)=56
therefore,
5x+4+7x+4=56
12x+8=56
12x=56-8
12x=48
x=48/12
x=4
therefore present age of rahul is=5x=5*4=20years.
and present age of haroon is =7x=7*4=28 years.
