To Find :-

What are their present ages?

Solution :-

According to the 1st condition :-

Given that,

The ages of Rahul and Haroon are in the ratio of 5:7.

Let the age of Rahul be 5x.

Then, the age of Haroon will be 7x.

According to the 2nd condition :-

Given that,

Four years later the sum of their ages will be 56.

Therefore, after four years

The age of Rahul will be ( 5x +4) years.

And the age of Haroon will be ( 7x +4) years.

As per question :-

5x + 4 + 7x + 4 = 56

⟼ 12 x + 8 = 56

⟼ 21x =48

⟼x = 4

Hence, present age of Rahul is = 5x = 20 years.

Present age of Haroon is = 7x = 28 years.
