ratio of their ages is 5:7

so, age of rahul = 5x

age of laxmi = 7x

after four years :

age of rahul = 5x + 4

age of laxmi = 7x + 4

now according to question:

5x + 4 + 7x + 4 = 56

( since given that sum of their ages after four years will be 56)

12x + 8 = 56

12x = 56 - 8

12x = 48

x = 48/12

x = 4

so, present age of

rahul = 5x = 5*4

= 20 years

laxmi = 7x = 7*4

= 28 years
