then, four yrs later :-
=> (5x+4 )+ (7x+4) = 56
=>12x+8=56
=>12x=48
=>x=4.
hence the present age of Rahul is 5x=20 and that of Rohit is 7x=28

On transposing 8 to R.H.S, we obtain
12x = 56 − 8

On dividing both sides by 12, we obtain
