The ages of ram and ravi are in the ratio 5:8 . If ram was 5 years older and ravi 4 years younger , the age of ram would have been the same as the age of ravi. Find their ages.

Let ram's age to be 5x
let ravi's age to be 8x
according to question:
if ram is 5 years older :5x+5
And if ravi is 4 years younger :8x -4
So,
5x+5= 8x -4 ,
+5+4 = 8x-5x,
9 = 3x ,
9/3 = X,
3/1 = X,
3 = X,
now ram's age=5x = 5 × 3=15,
Ravi's age= 8x = 8 × 3 = 24
