Solution :

Given that the ages of Ravi and Hari are in the ratio of 1 : 2 so,

  • Let the ages of Ravi and Hari be 1x and 2x

6 years later the ratio of their ages will be 6 : 11 so,

  • 1x + 6 / 2x + 6 = 6/11

According to question

➝ 1x + 6 / 2x + 6 = 6/11

by cross multiplying we get,

➝ 11(1x + 6) = 3(2x + 6)

➝ 11x + 66 = 6x + 18

➝ 11x - 6x = 18 - 66

➝ 5x = -48

➝ x = -48/5

➝ x = -9.6

Hence,

  • Age of Ravi = 1x = 1(9.6) = -9.6 years
  • Age of Hari = 2x = 2(9.6) = -19.2 years
